Kingston Young Orienteers Festival took place on Thursday 14 April at Kingsmeadow, using a brand new orienteering map developed by SLOW.  Over 180 young people from 15 schools took part in a warm-up Naughty Numbers exercise, followed by an orienteering course.  Everyone seemed to have a good time, in spite of the afternoon rain.  All competitors received a certificate and shields were awarded to the winning school team in each category: St Luke's (Primary), Tiffin Girls (Secondary Girls), Tiffin (Secondary Boys).  Many thanks to the Royal Borough of Kingston for supporting the new map and the festival.   A team will shortly be picked to represent Kingston at the national Young Orienteers Festival to be held in Battersea Park on 2 May, in conjunction with the Orienteering World Cup Sprint Final.  Further details www.wcup2005.org.uk
